Abundant Living Graphic

So for the first time ever my pastor has given me more than two days on what his next sermon series is going to be on so I get to work up a metaphor. And of course I can't come up with something I like. So I look to you to kick start the flow.

Sermon series is called Abundant Living main verse is John 10:10. The crux of the message is that we do not need to live from "miracle to miracle" but in the abundance that Christ can give.

Any idea will be greatly appreciated.

~Mike

abundance-filled to overflowing
what about a overflowing cookie jar, the glass of water thing is over used, but would work, a banquet table filled to overflowing...

I used to have a John 10:10 bumper sticker that said "life is more than a beach..." I always loved that one...maybe something with an amalgam of diverse fun/rich/abundant things...

Pastor didn't like the food metaphors and he wanted something with water. SO I found a decent water falls on SXC and added a filter to enhance it a little. Attached is a first try. Not happy with the fonts, I didn't spend much time getting the right one as I was more concerned with the graphic. Thoughts?

I'd try something scripty for both words. A flowing script suggests both abundance / extravagance, but the right one can suggest vines and living, too.

My first choice was Comic Sans...

Believe it or not I was thinking Scriptina! I had to wipe my laptop recently and haven't re-installed all my fonts yet.

Yah, I played around with some different script fonts. While others like Edwardian and Flemish played up 'abundant' more, Scriptina gives the strongest 'living' message.

If you can't find Scriptina in your backups, it's free at dafont.com.

A picture showing people working to earn money, riches, and tangable wealth would be a good example to start with. Even though money is only a part of abundant living, I think that it is something that everyone can grasp and wrap their mind around.

And I understand that using the words "God" and "money" in the same context has a tendancy to make people feel uncomfortable but money is that universal device that can be used as an example that everyone understands. A teacher once told me that when one of her 5th graders does not understand a math problem, let's say decimals.. she will tell the student to convert the numbers to dollars and cents and it's amazing how quickly they get revelation!

So if I were to use this as an example I might suggest that we don't live from hand-out to hand-out. We go to work every day in our careers/businesses so that we can earn a living and have abundance in our finances and a metaphor in the graphic could say this.

I thought about the money thing but I was afraid people might think that the series was going to be more of a prosperity mesage. Depending on where the series goes I may use it in the future.

Yeah.. I feel you... and this may not be the exact right time for that kind of graphic but then again, is a prosperity message bad?

I would go out on a limb and say that 90-95% of people who are living miracle-to-miracle are living that way as a result of issues relating to their finances. Maybe they aren't good stewards over their money and they need a miracle when their bills are due. Or perhaps they aren't earning enough money to be able to handle an unexpected crisis because they are not encouraged or motivated enough to get new skills and a better paying job. And even though money isn't "everything" it is still very important when living in a world such as ours.
