Ripley's Font(s)

Greetings to you all as always,

We are doing a "Believe it or not" type series. I am wondering if anyone knows what or where I can get the Ripley's Font(s) or one close to it, or what the name of it is.

Any help is greatly appreciated as always, thanks guys and gals

Re: Ripley's Font(s)

is the Ripley's font similar to the Disney font? If so, I was thinking that at dafont.com they had one called something about a mouse, but I can't remember it's actual name. I will go check it out

Re: Ripley's Font(s)

I went to the Ripley's site and it is owned by Disney, so I am thinking it is the same font as the 'Walt Disney' font, if not, it is very similar. Good Luck with your project!!

Re: Ripley's Font(s)

Whoa --- a big thank you here. We've got an upcoming sermon entitled "Seeing is Believing" and I'm in the early stages of designing a "Ripley" Logo for that! Thanks for saving me the leg work on the font...

Re: Ripley's Font(s)

I did know that ripley's was owned by disney, I didn't realize that it was basically the same font. Thanks for your help Karen, I was looking all over the place and couldn't find any "Ripley" font or even something that seemed to resemble it. But ahhhhhh, you have enlightened me, and I had never been to daFONT before, pretty cool sight. Thanks for your help a million times over =)

Re: Ripley's Font(s)

From looking at the official Ripley's Page, it looks like the Ripley's name is in a font called "Walt Disney Script v4.1), but the Believe it or not looks more like Arial or some other Sans Serif font

Re: Ripley's Font(s)

Not a san serif on the version I'm looking at...the i and the t definitely have whatever those little feet are called...closer might be Aldine 721 BT

Re: Ripley's Font(s)

Went through my font lister and the only 2 that I saw that were similar to the Believe it or not part were cooper black and playbill. Neither are quite right, but I bet if you tinkered with them in photoshop, you might be able to make them look right. The main differences I see are
- the 'e' in believe has its tail a little shorter than the cap part of the 'e'
- the first letter of Believe, It, and Not seem to be italicized while the rest of the words are not.
I know, a little hard to follow, and you probably really think I am a font geek now, but oh well!!!

Hi,

Was the Walograph the closest to Ripley's that you were able to find?

This is an old thread so you may not get a response from the original posters. The closest I found was Waltograph for the script (available at dafont.com), and Cooper Md BT for the 'believe' text. Neither is an exact match (Ripley's is based on Robert Ripley's handwriting, and Waltograph on Walt Disney's, so that's not surprising; the 'e' in Cooper isn't right, but the rest is decent). But with the right treatment, I think they may be close enough. See attached.
