Podcasting Church cover

I'd love some input. Here's my first go at it, photography is by CMN's Joseph Bruno:

I think I'd change "for a 1st century message" to "for a timeless message" or something like that.

And I'm not wild about the white and the gray. but that's probably a personal preference thing.

It looks cluttered, but I'm not sure how I'd simplify it.

I think I'd make the color black, put the picture in the middle, title on the top and author on the bottom, with white/light colored text.

I hope you have a picture of someone with headphones on (supposedly listening to a podcast) for the back cover.

Having learned something from Jason, I saw a cover that I liked and used it as inspiration. Promise not to laugh? It's subject is a little different from mine.

It is by a Christian author, but not for single people :

I've purchased a couple copies of that, myself.

Do you have a more vertical version of the picture, so you could put text over the blurred part? I think that's what I'd go for.

But, again, much of this is personal taste, not right or wrong.

I don't like the "1st century message". How about "a message that transends time"

We're marketing to church folks here, not the unsaved. So but fat churchy words like that is less of an issue.

BTW, I do like the t as a cross in this application, again, because of the market.

I didn't change the text (you might be right about 1st vs. timeless), but is this kinda what you were thinking Joel?

Oh yeah, I'm starting not to like the gray myself. I might take the burgundy triangle off and use that color for the box above.

Yep. I was right. I like it. You might be able to grab the burgundy from the corner and try that instead of the black.

Hopefully you can get more opinions. I don't need to by very many books on church podcasting.

One other issue. Do you want to bank of the cred of being a podcaster if you aren't actively podcasting?

To pick nits, the cross looks a smidge closer to the i than the s.

I could see that working well, also.

So here are some more ideas:

Maybe one of these.

BTW, since I'll be self-employed starting next month, Tech, No Babel is coming back along with...the "Podio-Book" of "Podcasting Church". That's right. Two podcasts a week, recorded on Tuesday and Thursday during the day. I hope to have them out on Wednesday and Friday each week.

I still like the black one. I don't like the drop shadows on the white one.

One thought I had is doing a burgundy to black gradient on the top and use the black on the bottom. But I think all these are better than th gray and white.

Other catch phrases I've come up with:
Making the Good New available ...and downloadable.
Putting the Good New in peoples ears. (with a picture of an ear with an earbud in it)
Taking it to the streets. (That one may have been used somewhere before. )
All the cool churches are doing it. (a little peer pressure)

...how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone podcasting?

I like it for the most part. My only real criticism is the cross for the t. I think it looks out of place and it is WAY overdone. If you want to stylize a letter perhaps do something like the following with the P.
