Grass roots has stated that Power Tool features would be built in to the next version, whenever it comes out. As of the current version, it runs Power Point very well inluding animations, etc.... We do it every Sunday and have been for 2 years now.

Song Show Plus

We use Song Show Plus. We bought the system from Fowler, it came with SSP and we never looked back.

Before installing the system, I thought I would purchase Media Shout and use it instead of SSP. At the time, Media Shout had a much better web page which described features that I wanted, but did not see on the SSP site. However, when I tried SSP, all of the features I wanted from Media Shout (or something similar, as good or better) were included in SSP. So we stuck with SSP and have been extremely happy with it.

The Fowler system came with everything we needed including (and perhaps most importantly) great instructions and a schematic diagram that made the entire thing extremely easy to setup and install. I literally had the system unboxed, set up and projecting within 2 hours of receiving the UPS delivery (with no multimedia experience). Granted, our projector mount was an easy install; hanging from a lighting rack in the balcony.. no ladder, drilling or cable snaking required.

I usually "work around" the problem by doing everything in SSP and not messing with PPT at all if I can help it. But visiting speakers will bring PPT shows that require playing or the youth will create one of their mission trip, etc.

The "ideal" would be an SSP with the ease of PPT in creating slide shows. Or maybe a PPT with the ease of SSP in creating worship media.

But what I'd REALLY like, is for whatever I'm using to show all of the song verses on the control monitor. For those times when we're jumping around and not following a strict linear progression through the verses it'd sure help to be able to see the entire song on the control screen without having to scroll the lyric pane.

We're still using Mediashout 2.5 although I did purchase the updgrade to MS 3.0. Since I've been doing a lot of traveling lately, I haven't done the change over to 3.0 because I haven't had the time, but am planning on using it soon. To be quite honest, there were 2 things I wanted from 3.0...the DVD capability and the NRSV bible which my church uses but wasn't available in 2.5. So, as of right now, we paid $125 for the updated bible version. I figure I can hold out a little longer and MediaShout guru's will have all the bugs worked out. (fingers crossed).

Easy Worship

I downloaded all 4 of the major software trials. All are very good, however in my humble opinion if you need to make changes to your service on the fly Easy Worship is hands down the best.

If our services were without so many changes I am sure we would have looked longer at the other software. However EW certainly is something anyone can learn to use. I ran the sound last Sunday and my 11 yo daughter ran EW for us without any significant glitches or errors. (It's a small Home Missions work)

Like others have said. Try them all out, they all have wonderful features.

It also seems ever complaint I have read in this thread about peoples wants from their software is in EW. Powerpoint control is simple and wonderful. Song verses and choruses are a mouse click to change, or keyboard shortcut, whatever your preference. Ease of use is a 2 minute tutorial, and they are off.

This is precisely the reason I bought SundayPlus after seeing it demonstrated at a convention several years ago.

i concur. i spent 40 minutes with another software (which will remain nameless) and was just too frustrated to continue. then i tried EW, and had it in, literally, 10 seconds. (but i'm more computer-lit than most). i give new operators about 90 seconds of training, and after that, there isn't much more to say.

I've been using Sunday Plus for a year now and I've got to say I like it. It's not difficult to train other people how to use it and that's important in smaller ministries. Sunday Plus doesn't have a big learning curve, so that's a big plus in my book.

Cool Why I like SundayPlus

The biggest thing about SundayPlus, is that while it has extentive multimedia capabilities, it it very easy to learn and use. One of the operators was a 12 year old, and he did great. The user interface is 'California Sunshine cute' but it is not intimidating to the freshest users and easy to get around for the veteran users.

The next upgrade to version 3 will be very impressive.
To get a hint of SundayPlus' future go to http://myfreepath.com/
The new SundayPlus will be built on this engine, and this one will fly.

Hello Carl, where is your picture?

Ron you can do this in SSP by simply clicking off the Data base panel. it will then leave the program inspector panel open on the left and your program on the right, when you click on a program item, the inspector shows all verse and chorus's etc or scripture verses, slides etc etc. you then just click on the green diamond to display each verse or chorus.

The other way is in tools preferences, you can select the words for each verse and chorus to appear over v1v2v3 c1 etc when you hover the mouse over it.

We do alot of operating for conventions and conferences often working with worship bands we dont meet until the day. So jumping around and working on the fly is what we do. SSP makes it so simple to do this, yet so powerful to allow us to work outside the square, and push the boundaries. All of this software is only as good as the Computer thats running it, and unfortunatly cutting edge software means cutting edge hardware..

If you want more info give me a message or email me.

Hope it helps
Rod

EASY Worship

The Easy in EasyWorship says it all. It's so simple to add powerpoint sermon notes and video. And training time and revisions are a snap.

Once you've used moving backgrounds, non-moving ones look so tired. Even some elderly people in the church have commented about how the words are enhanced. (I think they especially liked "I'll Fly Away" with a Digital Juice background that looks like a video camera was taped on the back of an eagle soaring through the clouds.) And it's a "must-have" in the contemporary service.
