Let me explain that, the computer at home runs Linux, because when I built it, I didn`t feel like spending my budget again to run Windows eXtraPathetic
Oh, I forgot to mention, both the church and my home computers run Linux (Kubuntu, from the Ubuntu family). No need for WINE

Being a Linux guy, several years ago I used Lyricue under Linux at my church. It worked well, but the big push to change was that it didn't do video. Switching to any of the popular commercial programs would provide that, as well as a wider user base (and easier for normal people to configure) that would better future-proof our setup in case, say, I were to get run over by a bus.

OpenLP looks like a nice choice as well, and if I were to go free/open-source these days, it would probably be the first I looked at. I'm a Linux guy, so that aspect of it really appeals to me.

Download the free trials - see which works best for you - get that one (free or otherwise).

No substitution for some hands on.

I need to either find the source code, or a generic RPM, as the Linux I use isn't listed on the website, so I need to install by hand. It's a derivative of Mandriva, so I may start there. Currently trying ZionWorx so I will see how that goes first though....

Okay I found OpenLP, and got it installed, but the Song tab is missing from the list, it looks good otherwise, but without the song list, this isn't going to work very well

Head over to the forums at openlp.org. We'll see if we can diagnose your issue.

Phill

(p.s. I presume you enabled the songs plugin during the first time run wizzard?)

An update Zionworx and OpenLP have a similar problem, like most software, the documentation is mostly done by the developers, which means it misses a lot of the stuff that new users find the most helpful. Really software manuals should be written by English Lit. Majors, who have no idea what a computer is other then an 8 letter word, so that the developer needs to sit down with them and explain every little detail. I spent over 20 years in the computer business, so I have seen both sides of this.

OpenLP is more intuitive, I can load the bibles we use most often into the program and just drag and drop. I will need to dump/restore the database across computers. What I want to eventually do, is get the pastor (easier then you think, I am married to her), to use the program, because then she can design the order of service in the program, and print it to a PDF and then just email that to those who need it. Unfortunately I need to get the 800 and change entries in the hymn book into the database first I have a bunch in powerpoint so I can just copy those over.

Easyslides, uses .Net and I am not a fan of .Net, if Powerpoint is an 800lb Gorilla, .Net is his 8000lb brother....
