PowerPoint integration

Hello All,

It has been a while that I have looked at Worship software. But my biggest concern is we have a HUGE database of all our songs in PowerPoint. What software integrates the best with PP???

SongShow Plus will show powerpoints fine, as long as you have powerpoint on the machine (it won't work with the free player.) They will appear as slide shows, rather than songs.

However, SSP has a song to slideshow connection now that may address some of that. But I have not played with that much.

OTOH, if you have a SongSelect Lyric Service subscription from CCLI, most all the worship software makes it easy to import directly from there and set the songs up in a snap. Then you have the advantage of having the lyrics in your song database and can reformat, set backgrounds, etc, using the worship software's tools, rather than having to go into powerpoint and edit each slide.

Media Shout can also show native Power Point slides either utilizing Power Point installed on your system or the PP viewer. There is also an option to convert your PPT slides into native Media Shout Cues. It can also import directly from SongSelect.

I made the argument back when we were considering switching from EasyWorship to ProPresenter that we only do 4 or 5 songs a week, and it only takes a few minutes to copy/paste/format the lyrics.

I have even had a couple of instances where my pastor pulled a golden oldie out of his groovyard of forgotten favorites. I just Googled the lyrics, pasted them and had them up on the screens well before the song was over. ProPresenter's CCLI integration makes it pretty easy too.

Now that I think about it, I don't think we even touched our backed-up EasyWorship lyrics files once we switched to ProPresenter.

When we converted from SSP to ProPresenter last summer, I found a program somewhere on the internet that would do a decent job of converting most songs. However, from the beginning I had planned on not using the converted library at all, since they had been through two or more conversions before and were virtually all hand-entered originally; instead, I took several days to build a clean library from SongSelect. I printed out the list of files in the old library, went through those and picked out the ones that I actually cared about (which I think was about 150 out of 400) to import and format from SongSelect. I also took the time to set up the default arrangement of the song, following the album versions, when I could, to make it easier for our volunteer operators. Well worth the time invested, and actually kind of fun too.

I simply rebuilt mine week by week. As songs were scheduled for the service, I added them.

If we add a song that I'm not familiar with, I'll find it on youtube so I can set up the order, line breaks and page (screen) breaks to make sense. I actually run through presenting the song while the youtube plays. Of course then I run through it with the band the next day.
