Which Presentation software is better? Propresenter 4 or Mediashout

I work in my Church's media team and we are trying to see which worship presentation software to use. We are caught between Pro-presenter 4 or mediashout 4.5.

Every church is different with media usage and every worship software has it's fans and detracters. (I'm a SongShow Plus fan, myself)

The best advice is to download the free trials and give them all a good run. It's kind of a pain, because the one that's easiest to pick up may not be the best long term solution. So you really need to spend some time with each one.

If you have specific questions about how something is done in various software, please ask. I'm sure you'll get all kinds of helpful responses.

And welcome to CMN! I hope we can be helpful.

We use PP4 and it is great, though i miss Song Show Plus. I don't miss MediaShout but it was very easy to train people on. Joel has the best advice. Give each of them a whirl and see which works best for you.

What are you migrating from and what problems are you trying to solve by switching to new software?

Define better.

I will never use anything but PP. But that is because I love all its features and its ease of use.

Our church can't afford any of the commercial offerings, so we decided to go with OpenLP - it's free, it's got a lot of features, and the new version (currently in beta) runs on Windows, Linux and OS X.

Definitely a loaded question and the test the trial versions before you buy is good advice. I currently use MediaShout 4.5 and it is easy to training operators and it does a really nice job. I think ProPresenter has more flexibility to work on the fly, where MediaShout is a little more linear structured (but you can still do things on the fly too -- its just not the application's strength). However, when I was reviewing before purchase, I probably would have selected ProPresenter. The church however settled on Windows platform. This was a new church start up and purchasing all new hardware. ProPresenter was not available for Windows at that time, and the likelihood of the church having only one computer on Mac platform was nil.
