Where can I buy a virtual Baptist hymnal? I've been searching the net trying to find someone that sells a software version of the 1991 Baptist hymnal, with no success. What would be perfect would be a CD based hymnal with all the textual content (I don't need the music, but the lyrics, responsive readings and scriptures is what I'm after) so I can import the entire hymnal using MediaShout's shoutsinger with just a few clicks. We have a CCLI license and have signed up for the SongSelect service, but you can only pull songs off of their site one at a time. I guess the other "nice" thing would be if the data were already stored in a MediaShout-friendly format (like SongSelect format?). Anybody know where I can buy such a resource? TIA! Ken

Re: Where can I buy a virtual Baptist hymnal? I can't believe that THE SBC doesn't have something like this for THE Baptist hymnal available through LifeWay or one of it's publishers. ![]() Anyway here are a couple of items to consider that might get you part of the way there. Hymnastics Steve Green's MIDI Hymnal Yes, there are lyrics on this one too. Blessings.

Re: Where can I buy a virtual Baptist hymnal? I'm kind of surprised that I couldn't find anything on the SBC or Lifeway sites as well. I can get a paperbound hymnal in a myriad of colors for a plethora of instruments, but virtually nothing in the form of data. Maybe a phone call will help reveal it... Thanks for the links and tips so far (I never included "CD rom" in my google searches, doh!).

Short of finding a resource produced specifically for the 1991 BH, then realize the following info from the above web site will be true with almost any option you choose. "Text will be included for many public domain songs. Sorry, we cannot include copyrighted text." For the BH 1991 edition, you'll find 80-85% of the hymns will be available this way. I used to sell The Digital Hymnal on the road for a local music store and actually when though my copy of the BH 1991 and marked every song avialable, and that's what I came up with. IF you can get something from the BH publishers then everything should be included. Boy, if this is already available they certainly ought to be developing it. Hope you find what your after, and do let the forum know back what you find, what you chose, and how it works. Peace. |

Re: Where can I buy a virtual Baptist hymnal? Here's an update: I emailed Lifeway asking if they had such a resource. Their response was "Unfortunately, we do not have any CD resources for our hymnal. That may come in the future, but at this time, we have no such resources. Sorry for the inconvenience." Oh well...I wasn't holding my breathe.

Re: Where can I buy a virtual Baptist hymnal? You can just type the songs into your presentation software as you need them. I'm doing a camp this week and have about 6 songs that aren't in my database or couldn't find lyrics online to enter. I'll just type them in the first night and then I got them forever.
