| Re: Where can I buy a virtual Baptist hymnal? I was trying to get away from typing the lyrics in, I'd prefer to cut and paste. I've had okay success downloading the hymn lyrics from SongSelect and importing directly into MediaShout, but since it's not "directly from the source" I get to proofread all the hymns, comparing them to the hymnal's lyrics. I've found errors/omissions in a majority (so far) of the hymns we've used. But hey, we've only used the system for 3 services so far, so maybe the odds will get better! |

| You can get the '08 hymnal from Lifeway, it is call Trumpet. With that you actually access the hymns as they are in the hymnal. The at the bottom of the page for most of the songs are the verses and copyright info. There are many more songs on Trumpet that there are in the hymnal, but all the hymnal songs are on the program. Being I am newbie I cannot post a url, but if I could the part after lifeway dot com would look like this product/005085932/ Quote:

| Our Musical Director usually gives me typed copies of what she is planning on using each week. I keep them with titles in capital letters with the (Year) updated in the title yearly because of copywrite and CCLI info that could change. It helps me so that I am projecting what she is actually singing also. When I first started doing this 5 years ago there was a learning curve for me. I had to learn through much error on my part that It is better to err on what she has given me then to make assumptions that all songs are eauqal... and I need to check my work. lol We do use a Baptist Hymnal but not all the songs are in there. Luckily with Easy Worship I can cut and paste from Word files so I don't have to retype everything that is not in there. But I do like the Idea of a Virtual Baptist Hymnal though it could make searching out possible errors a little easier. I am a little suprises but then again not suprised that they have not done this yet. They hae to have it typed up somewhere in order to print it... So the bulk of the work is already done. |

| I think all Hymnals have this issue, they alter words, some will replace old language, some use older language and some use different translations. What I do, looking for words is I Google the hymn, enter the name and lyricist. So for example: "Praise the Savior" lyrics "Thomas Kelly" Since the hymnals lyrics are written by Thomas Kelly, then I copy that to the computer, and compare it, line by line to the Hymnal. Once it's on the computer, I save that and move on to the next one. I have a whole bunch of the hymns on the computer now, each week when I get the order of service, I add the ones I don't have. I expect that as this process goes on, I will type in fewer and fewer each week. |
