Livestreaming Suggestions

We're livestreaming our services right now through livestream.com, but we're using the free service & it constantly has ads not to mention some ads are about condoms. I realize we need to upgrade our internet connection (someone is handling that now) because when you watch the service online the video looks "jerky"

Anyway, I was wondering what website/service people use to live stream their services? Thanks,
Maritza

Wow Two people this week in the area. I live over in Greensboro, met someone here on CMN from Winston Salem last week.

We are in the same boat. Using Livestream. Dont like the ads either. and its jerky for us also.

Looking to upgrade our internet speed up one notch.

www.livestream.com/bridgeofhope

I am looking at http://www.sermon.net/

Have not called and talked to a person yet. Looks affordable.
A bit confused on using the 3rd party encoder to do live broadcast.

Also looking at Vimeo for our archive videos..

Thanks Billy. I forwarded your sermon.net recommendation to our camera/streaming guy.

BTW, don't know if you knew this or not, but I called Northstate Communications (our High Point phone company) and they'll be rolling out fiber optic technology in January for internet. They can offer a plan that's 10 times the speed of Time Warner's for the same price, but alas we have to wait til January.

Maybe some day I'd like to swing by your church & see how you handle the media ministry & your setup. We're just getting into this arena & it's pretty new for all of us. Thanks again, Maritza

I am checking now on upgrading our Internet speed, Up load speed is at the bottom of the tier that RR provides.

Hi folks.

We've been using uStream for some time now. Although they too have advertising, we haven't had anything particularly bothersome. They seem to be context sensitive.

We've been using Ustream for about 4 months (off and on due to changes in our setup).
This last weekend we started the broadcast again and noticed a highly inappropriate ad come up. It wasn't a lower third. This ad covered the entire screen with three lines of text that would be offensive for a church website. I'm guessing Ustream want's us to buy their new ad free service or Watershed. I'd rather pay $20-50 to run a Wowza server and go through the hassle to set it up. If you guys know of a setting I'm missing in the Ustream account settings let me know. It doesn't appear that they care which ads go on your broadcast.

Still testing this but Amazon Web services has a cloud image using the Flash Media Server. Been hearing a lot of good things about it and being a cloud you only pay for when its up. Also tested the Flash Media Demo Server on Rackspace cloud and it seemed to work quite well (not using the amazon images means you need to buy a FMS server license for anything other than testing ). The only downside going the cloud route is its much more technically involved.

We also use Ustream but never had any inappropriate ads pop up. We had used Livestream before but stop because the broadcast, every so often, would stop in order to play an ad.
