copyright issues

Hi everyone, I'm a new user here & I'm really happy there's a thriving community like this on the net.

I'm working on our church website content (hired a developer for the actual coding) & we're nearing our "unveiling". However, I'm in a sticky situation because some of the videos/presentations that our media people have been producing use copyrighted music.

We're a very, very small congregation (we will soon increase by the grace of God!) & we cannot really afford to buy or pay for multiple licenses or fees.

I was going to put a "Terms of Use" with a Disclaimer for the the stock images (linking to the sources used) but can anyone tell me how I should handle the question of music? It would be great to hear from those who have been in similar situations before.

Thanks!

If you're not going to pay the sequencing/internet broadcast fees, then I would recommend they not be posted at all unless you request and obtain explicit written permission from the copyright holder.

You'd be surprised how inexpensive a license can be. I built a site for a church that wanted to use "Our Church" from Steelhouse on their site and it was only $200.

Cory, I did more searching/trawling & you're right. There's no option but to use non-copyrighted music.

Phil, when I say our church is small that $200 is already expensive.
But thanks for your input.

Would any of you know of sites that promote use of non-copyrighted or free-to-use christian music? I will check the forum threads in here & trawl the net again. And will update this thread when I do find them, in case anyone else might find them useful.

Check the license at www.freeplaymusic.com or search for podsafe music

I can't get to it here to confirm, but try FreeWorshipMusic.com. the music is free to download and most artists there, IIRC, will let you use the music various ways, if you contact them for permission.

Try stock20.com. Last I checked it was $20 for a song.
