DVD Opening for our DVDs
We're trying to add more professionalism to our DVD products by having a prerecorded opening for our DVDs, instead of them just starting with a the pastors sermon.
We have a set up now, where we record straight to DVDs. However, we just purchased a Mac Pro and looking to use that. However, simplicity (a one touch step is always best).
Does anyone have any ideas or solutions on how this can be accomplished.
Many thanks ChurchMedia!
Three thoughts. . . oh, and welcome to the forums!
One - make a standard open and edit each service then burn to DVD. In whatever editing software you might be using, you can save a boilerplate project with the open, then open that one and add the sermon video as needed for final edit.
Two - make a standard open and always bring it in as first title on the DVD, then author the service as a second title.
Three - some DVD burning software allows for the creation of a non-skippable title. You see these on Hollywood products all the time. Some call them overture titles. Author with your open as an overture title, then it goes into the sermon.

Hey Paris thanks for the welcome.
I've thought of a few of these options, and you've shown me I have some options. I think for now as a quick fix, I may load my pre-recorded opening onto a DVD. Then use another DVD player and feed that into my other input on my main recording DVD player. That way I'll add it in before we start the sermons.
In the future I'm hoping to do more advanced authoring with Adobe Encore.
Once you learn how to "think" the way Encore does, it is a pretty darn good tool for DVD authoring. Super fancy, with spaceships and explosions? Well no, but very, very good at doing quality, clean work.
The Production Suite would also give you access to Premiere Pro for editing. You can set DVD chapter markers on the Premiere timeline, Dynamic Link it into Encore, and Encore will see all the chapters. Easy as pie. Piece of cake.
Now I'm hungry.
