D70 cameras behaving erratically with ProductionViewFX

A small church for whom I occasionally consult has four Sony EVI-D70C cameras going into a Vaddio ProductionViewFX switcher running V2.02.01 firmware.

The operator of the system says from time to time when he goes to move a camera, it will take off and wildly pan/zoom/tilt to somewhere he doesn't want it to go. I originally thought he was inadvertently hitting preset buttons, but he's confident that's not what's happening...he's only touching the joystick when it happens.

He says this happens intermittently, but it has happened with all the cameras, so I suspect either some sort of logic problem inside the switcher, or perhaps schmutz in the joystick.

Has anyone else had this problem, with cameras erratically going off on their own?

We have experienced the same thing with our EVI-D70 cameras & ProductionViewFX system. I updated the firmware once, and I think that helped, but it still happens every now & then.

Have you talked to Vaddio about it? They're pretty helpful usually...

Arlin, I've done the exact same thing, too. After the firmware update about eight months ago, the system seemed fine for a while, then it started acting up again.

And prochlea, I have yet to contact Vaddio. I talked to them eight months ago and they were very nice. I wanted to see if I could get some input from other users before I contacted them.
