I've gotten plenty of junk installed on the Dells (and any other brand) I've purchased.

Thank goodness for the PC Decrapifier.

Well, the thing is I kind of have to get it from Best Buy. They have some type of arrangement there. Otherwise, I would look into building one.

Ahh, gotcha. You can just get an OEM disk and wipe it all off, easy enough. Uninstalling the junk on Mom's new computer was bad.

Depending on your circumstances, you might possibly want to run Windows XP rather than Vista. But that's another opinion of mine.

Yeah I thought about that. I'm really not a fan of Vista, but I wanted to use the 64-bit OS. Ahhh...choices, choices!

Make sure that your Adobe software is compatible with the 64 bit OS. I think that CS4 will be, but CS 3 is not.

And that there are 64-bit drivers available for all the hardware you will want to use with this machine.

Remember, just because it comes with Vista doesn't mean it's 64-bit.

Aw man! I thought CS3 was 64-bit compatible. And I read that Vista Home Premium was 64-bit and would allow access of up to 16MB Ram. Is that correct?

They do make a XP Pro 64 bit version, but none of todays computers will ship with that for off the shelf type of buying.

Also, Vista isn't all that bad. In matter of fact, I enjoy using it on computers because it has a ton of drivers packed into the OS.

Try to make sure you have a ton of SATA ports. (6 or more) Not only are they being used for hard drives, but now for optical disc drives. Plus, you might want to add in an esata bracket for high speed external storage.

Finally, the firewire card might cost you more to have it installed OEM than it would to just install the thing yourself.

Just some thoughts...

Unless it says it's 64-bit, it's not.

Looks like you may be able to get an upgrade DVD, however.

But make sure there are 64-bit drivers for all your hardware.
