Recording Services

We right now record parts of our service such as baptisms. We use these to give the person a copy and we sometimes record first services baptisms and play them back during second service.

We have a switch/scaler the outputs VGA. I send this signal into a scan converter and then Record it on to a DVR. Is it possible to get a VGA in for our Mac so I can capture it right into Final Cut? Is their a better solution?

What we have no works ok but it doesn't look very professional after the scan converter. It is something I would like to get approved for next budget year so I do not have a budget yet.

It looks like in the near future we will be podcasting to so what ever I get I don't want to have to replace it when we do that.

OK, I guess you cannot do that. What do you guys recommend I do? I need to record off our switcher that is VGA. Should I run a scan converter? I would like to dump it right into Final Cut

well, the scaler is likely your best option-but they vary widely in quality. Does your current switcher have a monitor output at s-video or composite resolution?

No it is an option but we don't have it. We are using a Analog Way Centrix. I figured we would have to do something like that kind of a pain though. I guess I will just have to play some more withe our scan converter to see if I can get it to look any better.
