Furniture

Hi
I am not sure if this is the right sub-heading to put this in. I was wondering if anyone is willing to share with photos of setup of the video recording unit and the multimedia.
The reason being i feel that my current setup is not adequate. We have a visual mixer, dvd recorder, intercom and a tv (for output). The controller sits in front of the mixer and data video 4 screen but the dvd recorder and the intercom is on the rack with the audio equipments. The controller has to stand up everytime when they need to speak to the camera person. The tv is on the right hand side of the mixer therefore the controller has to keep turning right. My ideal solution will be all of the together in front of the controller. I have looked on the internet for furniture ie broadcasting but they seem to cost a foot and a hand. I just wanted to have an idea what other people did

The 2nd thing, i am trying to change the tv to a proper output monitor. Would it better to puchase proper output monitor or use a flat screen monitor.
I really appreciate your help:

Below is a link to some pictures of our setup. Basically, we just got someone (Maintenance Staff?) to build most everything furniture wise for us. It works great for us, but maybe space is more limited for you.

Wow, you have loads of space. i wish we had as much as that. Our place is 1 tenth of that but it at least gave me an idea. What do you use the count down for

It's just a clock that is satellite linked. We have one in the video production room, and two for FOH. (One for us, One for Pastor)

no pics here-but we're not staying with what we have anyway. We're planning on switching around to a dual desk, two layer setup-essentially like the control booths you see on tv studios and live sports remote trucks.

Because of the configuration of our room, we'll have the worship pc op in front, by the door window with a sightline to the sanctuary. The second row, sitting about 5 feet behind the first, will house the video director with the switcher directly in front, and the dvd recorder which sits right beside it.

For what it's worth, we use an r-techniques wireless com system to communicate with the cam ops, with only the worship op not on a headset (he or she is generally busy listening to the lyrics in order to stay in sync with the band).

switching to a monitor better able to match the projection screen would be a great idea. The better pro monitors tend to be quite expensive though. A halfway measure would be to switch to an lcd screen-since you're currently using vga to feed the projector, it would be best to get a screen that supports the same input (really, it should support as many different inputs as you can afford to get-dvi, hdmi, and s-video would be great).

We're still in the dark ages relatively speaking, sending the projection signal over composite! so I don't have a good scaler recommendation for you-but I'm watching to see what you end up with-we want to do the same thing.

Remi- post a picture of your room/setup. Maybe we can collaberate on this thread and come up with some ideas on how to better arrange what you have. Anything that we have might look great but may not work for your situation.
