Extron IN1508 video switcher

Has anyone used this switcher? A local vendor offered it in a quote ($1050). Will accept 8 different inputs (vga, s-video, rca, etc) and one vga output plus tie in for audio.
I am interest in any comments you may have. Thanks!

Extron IN1508

I am in the market for one of these units. Can I ask where did you get a price of $1050 for that unit?

I just helped a guy who was upgrading a training room A/V system and he installed one of those switchers. What I saw looked pretty nice. The switch was pretty quick even with the fade to black and it had a host of adjustments and output options.

Extron hardware is typically pretty bulletproof but I'm sure that comment will elicit from comments. That's been my experience at least and I've been using it for 15 years or more in a variety of applications.

FWIW...

To TCasler,
I got the quote from Camera Corner (www.cccp.com). If you need more info, PM me.

Extron IN1508

Dave,

I spoke with them and they were unable to help me with that unit. Thank you for the info though.

I agree on the Extron comment above. They make great stuff and this looks to be pretty good. Kramer also makes good stuff, and they have similar products you might be able to get cheaper.

To TCasler,
If you called Camera Corner, talk to the video dept. They can order one for $1200 (prices went up Jan 1st). They accept credit cards

Thumbs up Extron IN1508

I have 5 of these devices installed in two different locations. Have had them in use a couple of years. Love the device. Transitions are smooth and quick, resolution options are numerous. The only drawback is that the third computer input is only dvi. Vga to dvi adapter does not work. Bought mine through CIM in Indiana.

Does anyone know if this is still a current part? It still shows up on Extron's site, but some shopping results (quick online search only) show a lot of out of stock or discontinued status.
I'm also looking at the ISS 506 seamless switcher if anyone has pros and cons fo the two...

Thanks!

It's not discontinued. Extron still shows it as shipping. Extron isn't fond of online sales, so that may be why you aren't finding it. You could probably find it used on ebay however...
