Projector shuts down but stays up after rebooted.

Running dual projectors, through IR remote, but one consistently shuts down after about 10 minutes when first turned on. Started this couple months ago. Recently had both cleaned. After resetting both projectors one-at-a-time to be in sync again, I shut down the entire projection system for 15 minutes then power back up. After this they both stay on as they should. It's always the right projector that shuts down at initial start up. What could be causing the right projector to malfunction?

Cleaned before or after the problem started?

If before - I would suggest that not all of the internal electrical connections have been put back correctly. In this case I would report the problem back to whoever cleaned the projectors and ask them to take your faulty projector apart again and re-seat everything. Check the projector out with them present to make sure you are happy.

Does the projector come up with any 'fault codes' when it shuts down or not? Fault codes are usually indicated by on/off/flashing lamp sequences - see your manual for the projector for more details.

One of our four projectors has developed a logic board fault which gives it a mind of its own... Yours may have developed a similar fault? The only realistic solution is to swap it out.

There are a few reasons for a projector to malfunction, probably best to take it in to the dealer for service. Unless of course it's one of the cheap ones, in which case replacing may be the best option.

We had a routine maintenance perhaps about six months ago through a subcontractor of our dealer. Some church members have been quite discontent with poor response and unprofessional attitudes from our installer during past issues - including charges without notification. So I get hesitant & don't feel much support to work with them as other things arise. I don't recall a lamp replacement within the past two years, though the filters were replaced during the recent maintenance.

Perhaps I shall break down and contact them once again. Or see if one of their local competitors can help us out.

Thank you.

Before going to a competitor, I would have a nice chat with the owner at the dealer, if the dealer is part of a chain, you want to talk to the local top-level manager first. If they don't know their customers are unhappy, then they can't fix the issues.

If it's part of a chain, and the top-level manager doesn't do anything, contact the company head office, they will have a chat with that manager, and they can usually fix the problem, although sometimes that involves pink slips of paper.

If that is not successful, then start talking to competitors. The problem with a sub-contractor is that the competitor may be the sub-contractor or the competitor may use the same sub-contractor.
