| Video Presentation Setup Review I need some help on our new setup that I’m proposing for the main sanctuary… The current setup is all S-Video/Composite. 2 Cameras, PC, & DVD player all switched via cheap Composite/S-Video switch outputting the same signal via Y-cables to 3 display TVs and a DVD recorder. Several hardware changes have taken place lately – and it’s time to make some changes… as this set up is far less than ideal. 1) old 55” eye-sore projection TV used as main sanctuary display died… Sanctuary is small, so we got a 70” LED TV J SO much nicer and cleaner looking. 2) PC needs replaced and pastor bought a new one. It does not accept the old video out PCI card from the old PC (so old PC still in service currently until new components are purchased). PC has HDMI and VGA outs. 3) DVD recorder stopped working... which I’m actually glad about. For the new PC – I recommended a video capture card for recording purposes. So, with the changes – I figure it’s time to update the video quality/format as well. So far – in my research, I’ve noticed converting formats within the video switches gets pricy – and digital formats seem to take longer to make the switch between the different inputs – due to the processing that has to happen. So my concerns: Cost, Speed, Signal quality.. and anything else you guys bring up. J So, please see attached PDF as a proposed ALL-Component layout that I’m considering. Some questions: 1) my logic and assumptions so far seem sound? 2)Getting the PC to the Component Matrix switch – HDMI to component converter, or VGA to component converter?? So far I’m leaning towards: ViewHD Two Input HDMI to RGB Component YPbPr / VGA 2x1 Switch Converter – based on reviews on Amazon. 3) What 4x2 Component Matrix should we look at? So far I’ve looked at: CE labs - SW204HD, and the Atlona AT-COMP-42M. I like the idea of being able to control from the PC. These are the price ranges I’m looking at – but am concerned again at the time it may take to switch between signals. Anyone recommend a component switch? We’d prefer to stay in the $600 range for all our switching/converting needs… but have some freedom here as we want it to work well, and look professional. 4) any concerns with using Component splitters on the short runs within the sound booth? |
