Hello everyone
Our church was looking to buy a projector to display messages and a video from time to time we have a quote for a Viewsonic Pro 8500 5000 lumens with 3 yr warranty for $1600.00 and a Dukane 8955H-RJ 4000 lumens with a 5 yr warranty for 1900.00 does anyone have any knowledge of these projectors I like the viewsonic except the fact its appears to be black

I have no knowledge of those individually, but I use Dukane projectors from time to time. Their stuff is mostly pretty good. But it does really come down to the individual unit.

We have a Dukane that we've been using for 8 years. We are really happy with it's performance. I don't know if that means that the one you're considering is as good or not though.

I am not sure if Dukane actually manufactures any projectors, the ones I have seen have all been Dukane branded models from several other manufacturers and I believe that the 8955H-RJ/8956H-RJ is actually made by Hitachi (their model CP-X4011N). I noted that on Dukane's web site it appears as though the 8955H-RJ may have been replaced by the 8956H-RJ.

I assume the the parties offering the quotes verified factors such as the throw distance required for the desired image size, input compatibility, mounting and so forth. Probably the biggest difference between the two other than the 4,000 versus 5,000 lumens is that the Dukane is a three chip LCD projector while the Viewsonic is a single chip DLP projector.

Personally not fond of Viewsonic stuff. Have had problems with their monitors and the portable one at church is problematic sometimes, too.
