Unhappy Computer freezes up during projecting

Hi everyone,

We keep having problems with computer freezing up when trying to run videos of PowerPoints through our church projector. Does anybody have any suggestions how to resolve this issue.

Thanks!

IntelliChristian

Suggestions:

1) Tell us all about your computer (make/model/memory/processor/OS/PowerPoint version.

2) Tell us EVERYTHING that is running on the computer at the same time.

3) Assuming you are running Windows, download and thoroughly use the following tools (some will tell you they are redundant, but I get the best results using both to clean up a slow PC)

www.ccleaner.com
www.glaryutilities.com

4) Last, but not least, please refine your question. It sort of sounds like you are only seeing the problem when using the projector, and otherwise the computer runs fine. Is that what you meant to imply?

Thanks for the fast reply!

We're using an HP computer, I'm not sure about the model, 2Gb Ram, 3.2Ghz Processor, running on Vista, PowerPoint 2007, but the same problems when running PowerPoint 2003.

We usually run only the videos and PowerPoints that are needed for the ongoing service at the same time.

And yes, it seems like the computer freezes up only when the projector is connected. But the projector is always connected, we just need to turn it on during the service.

I've also read that the projector resolution should be matched up the the computer screen resolution to avoid problems with graphics, could that be the cause?

Did you run the 2 "repair" programs I suggested?

2 Gigs of RAM running Vista with worship software could be a big part of the issue. Both use a lot of memory.

Until I upgraded memory I used to have to go into task manager and shut down every process and program not needed.
