| 2 Projectors BNC & Component Source/Input Mix Greetings. I'm trying to figure out what the best solution is for my particular application. We currently run a Proxima projector that has composite and vga inputs. No problems there. I want to add a second projector to the system, and it will definitely have not only composite and vga inputs but component as well. My question is this. When using a video switcher/scaler like Extron's System 7sc will I run into problems with the signal on either unit? My vcr obviously produces either a composite or a lackluster coax signal. I can certainly use RCA to BNC between the VCR and the Switcher/Scaler, and I expect not to have a problem converting back to RCA when plugging into my older LCD projector. And I suppose I could use the composite connections on the new LCD projector, but doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose? Similarly, converting VGA to BNC is not a problem, but will I run into difficulty when I go to convert the multiple BNC's to one RCA when I plug into the older projector. Any insight would be appreciated. Perhaps the extron is able to sense and convert signals and this is not an issue. Thanks, Andrew Posted by Andrew Cromwell on Feb 4, 2002. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK my two bits this may be only worth 1/2 a bit First I would talk to a consultant or someone that really understands the dynamics of all of this and understand your situation. This can be real complicated. My first thought is why run both VGA and component if your switching and upscaling the signal to the projector just let everything run on VGA. That is the goal of the switcher/scaler for your NTSC signal it is scaled up to VGA. How long is the run is the next question. I have heard from different folks that as much as every 300' you need to put and amp on it to 75'. Once you determine if you will be hot enough going to the projectors you should be good to go. You should then be able to do one of two things send a line two projector #1 and then take a feed off of #1 and send it to the projector #2. That is simple only problem is if #1 goes out so does #2. You can run the line to a VGA splitter/amp and send a split signal to #1 and #2. I am just guessing on some of this. If I were you I would call Tone Coopedge or someone of similar qualifications, I am on a big upgrade on our system. Well there is my 1/2 cent Randy Neary Cathedral in the pines Posted by Randy Neary on Feb 4, 2002. |
