| Media Organizing Ok. So i've been at my church for 8 years (that's how long the church had been around). We currrently have media stuff seperated throught the budget and organizational chart- such as the website is under administration and a/v is under worship, part of blogs and such is under certain ministries....all this makes it complicated when looking at the organizational chart and budget. I want get a "Media Ministry" and move everything media under there so that is is more streamlined, how do i go about recommending this BIG of a change to my LT??? any ideas??? |

IT, computers and web are under admin and anything that facilitates Sunday (light, video, sound) are under worship. Probably not the best because in churches it's often the same person doing all of this but when you remove the people factor it probably makes the most sense. Having said that, every situation is unique and if you feel it doesn't work for you I'd just do what Paris said. ![]() |

| we have ours organized a little different, this is all under our media ministry: Elder over Media Ministry | Deacon over Media Ministry | Media Ministry Leads We have one Elder that oversees the ministry, we have one Deacon over the ministry (That's me, handling the day in day out functions) and then we have Leads that head up each section of the ministry (sound, light, projection, etc...) Network, computers, Sound, Lights, Video, Projection, Web all fall under the Media Ministry and have leads for each one...many hands make light work. We don't have a "worship" division, because we believe that all of the Christian life is worship, but we do have "Music", which is responsible for the songs and music events, and again there is an Elder, Deacon, and leads. |

| My understanding is those terms are used differently in different denominations - can you sketch their roles and status of those titles within your's? |

I will try to clear it up ![]() We are an Elder governed body, so all the Elders are Pastors for the body, we have 10. Deacons (Deaconesses) (lay people that meet the requirements from the Word for a Deacon) are those in a "servants" position under the Elder to support the Elder and relieve them of the "day in day out" things (i.e. schedules, maintenance, etc...)that have to get done (this it to give them the time to be in the Word). The Leads are "lay people" that are used for their gifts and abilities in a "technical" area, for example the Sound Lead is a Sound Engineer by trade, the Web guy is a coder by trade, then under the Leads we have other "lay people" that volunteer and are used for their gift and abilities. Does that help? |
