Small Overseas Church Stage Design Ideas Needed

I need some ideas for the stage at our church. It is a very small church overseas in Japan. It is an international church, so the attendance is 1/2 Americans (military actually). It can seat around 60. The stage really needs something done. I have no idea what to do.

My husband and I just arrived at this church. We do not like the color of the carpet, or the pulpit, or the lighting, or the wall for the drums, or even the piano, but that is what we were handed, and we can't change much right now.

We need something simple to do for the back wall. I don't think we could buy pipe and drape here , and it would be expensive to ship. Curtains are also very expensive here. Paint is also expensive, although doable, it is also normally poor quality. I'm afraid of spending a lot on paint and it turns out horrible. I don't know if we could find trusses. There isn't really a home depot or electronics store to buy that stuff. The spandex would work, plus it would be easy to ship, but I think we need something besides that.

Budget is low, and materials are not as easy to find here.

Any ideas?

Sorry for no replies. Im sure others will chime in soon. I'll start with a question. What are the dimensions of the room? Are you thinking of building a stage of some sorts? What do you use the projector for? Just powerpoints and notes? Announcements?
