| Help with lighting placement Hello My name is Justin and I am here for as much help as I can absorb. I have read a ton of great info in the lighting section here and really appreciate all of time that everyone has already taken to post such great suggestions for me to read through in other posts. Here is what we have at our church. It is in a college campus theatre. The ceiling is 9' tall, 24' wide at the front tappering to 16' at the back and about 12-14' deep. There is a bulkhead before the front of the stage and three feet behind it is the top front curtain to hide the main curtain track. Here is the lighting and equipment that we have. 6 American DJ Par64 LED cans, 14 Par cans, 8 are 500 watts and the rest are 300 watts. I have made three small cans, one with a 50w par36 bulb which is used to light our main vocalist/guitarist and the other two are 75w par36 bulbs that are mounted just behind the bulkhead to light our Pastor. We have two 38" cheap LED bars that can only be turned to any of the RGB colors or mixtures, they cant be controlled by DMX. We have two Elation stage 8 control boards and two Elation dimmer packs. I have downloaded the trial version of Venue Magic and put together some light shows for the songs that turned out pretty neat but I will also use just one light control board and let the LEDs go to the beat of the music. I am going to try to post 3 pictures so you can get an idea of what the stage looks like. We went to two projection screens angled on the sides of the stage and had were putting the LED cans under them, three on each side and letting them just go to the beat of the music which was working pretty well and getting some nice complements. I then mounted three LED cans eacj onto a 4' bars and put them up on each side of the curtain mount shinning down onto the stage and was controlling them with the demo version of Venue Magic and it was pretty good also. I am basically here to get any suggestions to where to position the existing lights, I am thinking of putting the 3 LED cans back under each screen and then putting 3 or 4 PAR cans up on the top front of the stage with some colored gel inserts for this weekend and controling them with the dimmer packs. Thanks for any info. Justin |
