LED suggestion

Our worship pastor had us build set pieces that will be used for temporary choir riser and for stage bases for other stage pieces. The units are 2x4 construction covered with plywood on top and sides, open on the back side with that side butting to a wall and the fronts are faced with coroplast and plywood picture framed divided into two sections of 4 foot wide. The units overall dimensions are 8' wide, 2' tall and 3' deep.

Looking for recommendations on appropriate LEDs to light the bases from inside to give a nice, even glow to the coroplast face. Currently using two Chauvet LED (sorry don't know model number) but they are too directional and show too much hot spot.

Suggestions?

Have you considered a strip light? That is what I would use in that situation. We usually sell something like the American DJ Megapixel for something like that.

You might also try cris-crossing the two LED's to spread them, as well as putting some frost over the face. The closeness is the issue, but that might spread it out a little more, and could be tried cheaply.

Try using the diffuser from a 2 bulb florescent light fixture. Place it in front of the LED fixtures. We used these on some of our chauvet fixtures and they were the exact size needed to actually clip on. The diffusion was great with very little loss of intensity.

You can pickup the diffuser from home depot, menards or your local hardware store. Less than $15. But you can "borrow" one from the hallway for testing
