New Stage Design

This is our newest set, just finished this morning. I'll take some higher res pictures this afternoon. I definitely can't take credit for this whole design, as we adapted it from Randy Parker at North Point Community Church.

I finally convinced our TD to let me shop for some LED lights and more permanent/reusable staging material. My church not only has a contemporary service, but also a large traditional service and a bilingual service in two other venues on the campus, so any fixtures or set pieces we buy must be multipurpose and fairly easy to move/install in other rooms (as I'm sure most churches are used to doing )

I have used the Color Kinetics ColorBlast 12 fixtures before, and like how they are modular, easy to install, and work as a wall wash, truss toner, and general uplight. But we ended up getting 12 of the Chauvet COLORdash Battens for a pretty good price. I'm really happy with the purchase, as the dimming curve is fairly smooth (for an LED, at least), and the internal power supply on each fixture makes installing them so much easier than having to run power to an external supply.

We also bought 8 - 6'x16' Ivory Voile panels from sewwhatinc.com for much cheaper and better quality than we would have been able to make from raw fabric from the wholesale fabric store here. They are just hung straight and bunched up a bit at the top to create the fullness and tied 5' up with tie line. Each panel is lit from the bottom with an LED and the black drape behind the panels is colored with the extra 4 LEDs.

We didn't move any of the Mac 250 Washes or Kryptons from our previous set, and they are mostly being used for the same purpose. And I got to drop the scrollers altogether, at least until I can find another use for them. Enjoy!

Hahaha... I stole that look for a client about 3 months ago! Only we did it with a red backdrop instead of black.

The ColorDASH Battens are nice little units. They are a little expensive for what they are, and their dimming curve is a little off compared to some other units, but they aren't bad.

Looks good!

Lovin the addition of ladders in the staging design... saves having to put them anywhere else

Haha, yeah, I was in the process of fixing some of the fullness in the panels when I took the shot. Here's a few shots I got with a real camera.
