Stage setup

We have an annual convention coming up in April and my sister and I are in charge of the stage set up....wehave to do it on a low budget, any ideas????
We want something simple, classy, and nice.
The church is like a theatre, thestage walls are painted (trees, plants, flowers) so we want to cover that up and giveit a complete new look.
Any ideas (w/ pics if possible) will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

How long is the convention and what are the measurements of your stage?

Tim.

P.S. if you have professional balloon decorating expertise available, you can do some really cool stuff. In the absence of such help, spandex walls are the ultimate lighting artists palette.

A couple of other things to check when you get measurements. Is this a traditional theatrical stage with rigging points, battens, etc. or a recessed stage with a more "normal" ceiling. If the former, you have a lot of rigging choices, if the latter, your choices are more limited.

Also, do you need the stage decor to go up and down between shows to accommodate the event or can it be set for the weekend?

Tim.

Can you give me an idea of what a spandex wall covering looks like, price, and where to find it. We are having a youth event. It is Called Youth Explosion. I would like to incorporate the name into the decor if possible. What can I do with a background on this?

I hope no one takes offense to this but churches have come way past the days of spandex stage designs. We have done some really cool stuff with materials you can pick up at Lowes or Home Depot. Silver window screen, plastic, PVC pipe, landscaping weedblock, etc. Check out www.churchstagedesignideas.com

I third (?) churchstagedesign. Get an idea from there and make it fit what you want to do. Right now our stage is a combination of two designs we found on there. Or straight copy, that works too

I love that. We did something similar with differing sized boxes.
