Zymic

Anyone know anything about Zymic.com. The reson i ask is it seems to good to be true. They are offering a free site plus domain hosting with benefits better than some payed services all without ads.

The reason i ask is i thought it good to do up a website as a interactive resume for the job i'm currently seeking.

I wish i had the funding to just pay for hosting but with a deal like this i don't know if i would go that route anyway.

It does look too good to be true!

I signed up to try it out. All worked great from my work office. Seemed fast and had all the features I am looking for. (this is the FIRST time I have signed up for a web host with php & MySQL).

But when accessing my new website from home, my ISP blocks my site, claiming it is on a phishing list. (http://199.120.69.20:81/cgi/block.cg...N&USER=DEFAULT)
I can access the Zymic website (zymic.com) and my configuration & control panels ok at home. BUT, the website I created, arlinsandbulte.99k.org gets blocked by my home ISP.
I contacted my ISP and they are looking into it.

Well so far the site seems legit. I've installed Joomla 1.5 (stable)and the only issue so fa is Zymic's servers have PhP_Safe_Mode on and i need it off for Joomla to run at it's best. I put in a request to have it turned off and it seems the support is the weaker part of the service. That said, for a free service with no ads i can live with laxed support since i usually do my own support on everything anyway.

I'll keep all posted and throw up a link when i get to a more finalize spot.

I'm guessing it's getting hit by your phishing filter because of the site name. If I wanted to stay hidden I'd use a service like this to host my phony site since it would be difficult to trace it back to me with the free e-mail account I used to start it that has no real information.

Hey Arlin are you using Comast? Our church has been Black Listed twice by Comcast. It seems people with cable isp have big issues with this sort of thing. I've also noticed that cable isp's will block unusual "."identifiers. So for instance www.blabla.cre8.com so on so forth. I really hate isp's that censor with a broad brush and end up killing legit services while trying to stop a small threat that's not even theirs to deal with. It's like if the government found one offensive song from a record company and decided to block all works from that company. A word from the wise go with dsl service if you can because the cable services that are doing this are only getting worse. Of course i've heard about people getting their bandwidth throttled and even blocked from doing things that either cable or dsl camps liked so we should just get use to being censored. Let me step of the soap box before i really get wound up.

Actually, my ISP is the same as my local telephone company, Premier Communications.
They are a small local company (small compared to Comcast or AOL). I think the real problem is the filter service provider my ISP uses... they are likely the 'big' overbearing watchdog here.

Found here that this site has been up and running since September 18, 2007
http://www.zymic.com/free-web-hosting/statistics/

Take that for whatever you think it is worth!
