| Domain and hosting provider I am starting to create my first web site...for the antique car club of which I am a member. I'm using a personal web page provided by my cable company. Once we are happy with it we want to get a domain name for it and it's own hosting. After several hours of looking at options on the internet I have no way of knowing which providers are the most reliable and safe to use. The site has been written in KompoZer. Will that make a difference? Can I get good enough service from a provider offering 3gig of web space for under $5.00 a month? Should I care if the server uses Linux or Windows? Thanks for helping me get started. http://twj815.home.mchsi.com

| siteground.com is about $90 a year and gives you several gigs of space. I'm very happy with them.

| I've used 1and1 and was reasonably happy with them, I just got a better resller deal at readyhosting. If you're going to have more then one site you need to check out readyhosting - you can become a reseller and get 50% off from your second site on.

| BlueHost.com offers both domain registration and hosting, and it's pretty reasonably priced. My sites are all hosted by MakeTheWeb.com, because I prefer the personal touch and service when I need it. I been working with him for years. If I want PHP 4, I tell him, and he makes it happen. If I want the newest PHP, I tell him, and he makes that happen. ![]() deb |
