From A Burning Bush...To A Fake Torch

Okay, I read the thread down below about designing a fake burning bush. I couldn't get to any of the linked reviews about the Bob or whatever, so I don't know if that would help me.

We are about to enter a stewardship campaign - which coincides nicely with the winter olympics.

I want to design a fake torch that we can put up as a prop in one corner of the gym we meet in. I'm envisioning a torch about a foot long or so, with the flame going out another foot.

How can I make it look like a real flame coming out of the torch? The other thing is that we want to pass it around on the last day of our campaign - which is the last day of the Olympics, the closing ceremony. Help?????

how about a CPU case fan, a red light and some fire lookin' paper or plastic "flames"? Or a tiki torch can! We're allowed to have the candles on the altar table, advent wreath, and weddings... I sure wouldn't pass it around, though! (and it probably violates a WHOLE bunch of fire codes! Our fire marshall here happens to go to our church, so the time our former Creative Minister had a bit of pyro in a Maunday Thursday service, she was immediately drug to a meeting of the higher ups!

Yeah, the fire department chief for our township goes to our church, so we can't do much in the way of tiki torches and the like. I think he has a coronary every year at our Christmas eve candlelight services.

The other idea sounds good - I have to figure out a way to "package" it into a torch type look.

A fan and piece of silk is all the Bob units are. We have two of them and they look quite realistic from 20+ feet away. The flames are around 8" long and it has four 20w halogen bulbs (three orange and one blue) inside facing up at the blowing silk.
