I'm glad it went so well for the first service though. I used some stock photos this year, with no music-we ran it a few times between services. It actually provoked comments, even so-people stopped what they were doing to watch-which is a good thing, I suppose.

Not as tear wrenching as Letters from War-but we used that a couple of years ago ourselves.

Did anyone else have a Veteran's Day special today? How did it go?

I should have added I listed our military names on a pic from this site and then when the choir sang a version of, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" I show an American Flag from this site as well. During the offertory while the pianist played a version of, "America the Beautiful", I played a video I bought via EW called "Home of the Brave"...it was military clips, primarily Navy...that was cool as one of my fave older members was in the Navy and he really liked it and one of our young women is in the Naval Academy and her grandparents and parents were there today.

Preacher before last took the American and Christian flags out of the church. I didn't agree but there were other fish to fry at the time. He didn't think it appropriate to celebrate anything patriotic or like mother's day or father's day...and the flags went in a closet and haven't come out. Besides, there was fairly viscious fighting going on as to whether the American flag went stage right or left with the person arguing not agree to the standard set by the VFW or some such supposedly reliable source. So, I personally liked having some sort of a flag in worship today and am certain it was noticed with a positive reception.

Funny you should mention that-we've got a bunch of em hanging on the wall-the US flag of course, as well as those of our sister church's and also where we have missions. So, we've also got Ukraine, China, Peru, Columbia, Mexico, and Scotland.

It just gives us a focus for the areas of the world we have relationships with.
