Music Minister wants song tracking database

Our church music minister wants the ability to tell what songs we have sung recently. Does anyone have a database or can tell me where to go to get some info? We currently use song Select. Thanks all.

If I remember, Song Select has a built-in tracker since it's from CCLI. It looks like it from this demo: http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage...ey_part_1.html

Do you use any worship software to project songs? A few of them keep track of the songs you use and you can just print out a report.

This might be overkill http://www.shoutmusicmanager.com/ should build you a report.

Song Select

Thanks for the note back. I checked and Song Select has an activity report by year, month, etc. These entries only track when you add a song to your database and i think our music minister is looking for a way to answer the old question of, "when did we do this song". i was hoping someone had something or had a link to some type of access database.

Thanks for your reply though. this entire site is really great.

One of the independent churches in Birmingham (UK, not AL) uses an interesting Excel spreadsheet thingy that they make available at http://www.city-church.org.uk/ServiceLeaders.php for their service leaders to use. Interesting that they are doing their own thematic indexing of the hymns and songs they use to assist in selection.

EasyWorship has this built in. Enter the from and to dates and it will produce an activity report.

The City Church system does have a reasonable search function, on the 1st tab, but you have to enable macros for it to work. I just thought it was an interesting take on this problem space. I'd be interested in what other solutions are out there, I'd love something that can help choose stuff (some ability to index songs thematically) as well as recording what has already been used, maybe a "rating" system like iTunes - some songs go down well, some less so. Will be interested in what others are using.

I use a simple Excell spreadsheet that I created a few years ago. It's simply a matter of giving each soloist a number. Then you can create reports by singer, by song title or however you wish to report it. I'll email a copy to anyone off line if you send your email address to

Song tracking

That's funny - I'm in the process of building an online application that will do much of what's being asked for here (primarily tracking when songs are used in worship, and leveraging the community to do things like "other worship leaders who have used song A are also using song B"). I expect it to be ready to go in about 5-6 weeks, and I'd love to get your feedback as to what features you really need in an application. If you'd like to drop me a line (or want to help me beta test it in a few weeks!), send me an email at john _at_ mentalvelocity _dot_ com.

How does the Planning Center know whether your use of the song that week is reportable or not, though?!
