Forked Thread: "Change is bad"

"change is bad". Keep a consistent feel through the service, if not the same font. The human brain and visual system is a great detector of change. Every time the screen changes, people will notice, so it should change for a reason. And every time it changes and something is different (besides the content, of course), it's going to draw people's attention.

Hopefully that didn't sound too soap-boxy. But readability is hecka important, and regardless of what other choices you make, must be kept in mind.[/quote]

I work at one church and attend another. I try to make sure that there is consistency in the slides I create. I also make sure titles, lyrics, and scripture are legible. The church I attend has someone else creating the slides. There isn't any consistency, and they are very hard to read. I have made some suggestions, and even bought "Digital Worship" by Midnight Oil, with no luck getting the slides easier to follow. Any suggestions?

Could you grab copy of some of the past services and redo them? Show them the difference.

I would try to make it clear to him the reasons why it's hard to read and what to do to fix it in the future, and as PHugger said, show him examples of what it should look like.

Make him an offer

to have you run the service while he sits in the pews. Maybe he has a "blind spot" and will not see it until he is on the other foot.
