I did not know what the hanging of the green was.
It sounds like a great service. We have never held a service like that. Can you give us ideas of what you have done in the past? What decorations do you use? Do you want to integrate media?

Our church does the same thing. Ours is shortly after thanksgiving i believe. Everyone is invited to stay Sunday Afternoon and then everyone who helps is invited to Supper. It's great.

one thing we did was every family decided on something they would give to Jesus as a gift whether it was a service project or a personal commitment. each gift was wrapped and then placed one by one under the tree. another time each family brought or made a special decoration to be placed on the tree. these are just a couple of things that i could think of.

We've done the 'hanging of the greens' service for bunches of years. Each class hangs a wreath in the windows of the sanctuary, then sing a few songs, and then everyone lights a candle and with the lights out sings Holy Night. Pretty neat.

Ours has gotten to be quite a production. It is worked into the Sunday AM worship service, all planned out and interspersed with hymns, carols, etc. I get to throw the switch that lights everything up on cue at a pre-planned time during the service. (of course that means that I have to do all the wiring the day before.) Actually quite impressive.

Hanging of the Greens

We have our chrismon tree's lights fade on instead of just turning on... (plugged into a dimmer pack)

We do need some fresh ideas for the service because last year it started being very childish...

And now we will hang a wreath. The wreath is green. Green is a christmas color. Traditional christmas colors are green and red...

Yea... This years was a little less stiff but maybe they can get next year's to be more contemparary...
