Dropbox errors

Anyone else seeing this when using Dropbox?

http://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=37541&replies=7
Error message when saving a PPT file:
"The file cannot be saved right now because the file is loaded by another user at the moment. You can wait a few moments and try the save again, or you can cancel this save and resave using a different file name."

This mostly seems to affect PowerPoint (and maybe other MS Office applications) when saving large files, like PPTs with embedded videos to the DropBox.

Temporarily disabling dropbox sync to save the files seems to solve the problem, but that is not an ideal solution.

I guess you would have to not directly edit a file in your Dropbox folder(s). It's probably a problem with Windows and Dropbox both wanting to control the file and locking each other out. On my mac running Lion, I have no problem doing this, so it seems like a Windows problem to me. I would try copying the file to another location, doing all your editing, then dragging it back in.

Yes, that would likely work too. It just defeates the (great) trancparency & ease of use of Dropbox to begin with.

Never have run into the issue but we don't use Power Point either.

It actually sounds like from the wording that the file is open on another computer and therefore unable to edit it.
