Cheapo Tablets

I know they are all junk and probably won't work very well, but I have on real use for one, it would just be a toy, so does anyone have any experience with the $100 tablets? I never plan on buying a good tablet or an iPAD. Just want something to play with.

Mike

I equite it to buying car stereo stuff at radio shack when you were 16. Once hooked up, you still wished you had a system but were down 100 bucks that could have gone toward one.

Yeah, I know. But I am not blowing $300+ on something that I will probably only use once in a blue moon if then. Like I said, it is a toy. I don't care if it works well or not. If it were anything else then I would just buy the Xoom and be done with it.

There will be no $100 toward a better one. If I don't get one of the cheapo ones I won't get one at all.

Draw a screen on an actual tablet and doodle on it then take your bride to Red Lobster on the money you saved.

Thanks man. I hate Red Lobster though.

I wish you were close by. I'd sell you my tablet.

I've got a MID tablet with Android 2.3, wi-fi, and front facing camera. It even runs Netflix! I like the little thing, but battery life on cheap tablets just sucks. You might get 2-3 hours on wifi.

I ended up getting an Asus Transformer which I love! It goes everywhere with me. The only downside is, no Netflix

You can get one a lot less than $100: http://tctechcrunch.files.wordpress....Rock.jpg?w=640

The only experience I have with cheap tablets is from my video guy. He ordered one from ebay (may have been $120 shipped). It was okay, but had a cheap resistive screen that he didn't care for so he sent it back.

I have a Nook color and I have been thinking about rooting it when I have some time. I doubt you will get a used on for $100 but I'll bet you can find them for under $200. I think it is pretty solid hardware.

Then why bother? Spend the $100 on something that will work better.

Used first generation iPads can be had for around $300 - and it will beat the pants off of anything else out there, new or used. There are multiple very good reasons Apple is handily spanking all other manufacturers when it comes to tablets.

The car stereo when you are 16 is a very, very apt analogy. At some point most people start to realize concepts such as diminishing returns and time is money...

If your still bent on being recklessly cheap, at least get a Kindle Fire...

My in laws got me an ASUS Transformer Prime. I don't use it a lot, but it is awesome and worth the money (that they spent of course).

Yeah, I've found that besides for reading books, my tablet doesn't see a lot of action either. But my Asus Transformer is well worth the money just for having all of my engineering books on one device for college.

I think the main issue with tablets is that they really don't serve a need that your smartphone or laptop can't do.

They are for when the smartphone screen is too small, and you don't want to carry a full sized laptop. As for battery life, see if you can find one where you can swap batteries and get two, although you may find a $100 tablet uses a $140 battery.....
