Installing Xp on new Hp laptop

Hello All,
I bought a New Hp DV 6000 and I could not get it any other way but with vista. Can I run an old xp install cd from another Hp laptop and get back to XP. I know I could do that if it was a dell. Because thats what I did with my current dell Laptop. Works like a charm with Dell. I am not as familiar with HP.

You could try it. Just make sure you have the restore CD's to put VISTA back if it doesn't work. You might also call Microsoft I have a vauge recollection of them allowing people to "UPGRADE" to the older operating system.
