| Have you tries contacting your printer manufactuer and asking them to walk you through renetworking your printer? On our network, the printer is assigned the IP address 192.168.1.201 and in order to print to it, all the computers need to know where to find it.

| For a quick check...print the network configuration page from the printers menu. See what the IP address is...then go to your computer and check to see what IP address is in the printer settings on your pc. If they are different, that's what your problem is. Change the one in your pc and try to print. If it works, you'll know you're going to have to change the IP. If not, you have a completely different problem! |

| so check this out. I called the printer people and they came out took a look for about an hour and nothing. The only conclusion they came to is it must be something conflicting with Vista. They encouraged me to get a network person if we are going to be running a network at church. Sorry, but we don't need one. It isn't tough to figure out. the ip address is the same. the printer works when I connect it to a usb and print. the router works because I can get the internet through it. I think maybe they installed XP drivers and now their is a conflict with those. We purchased the computer about 1 year ago when vista was newer. Any other helps guys would be appreciated. If this is Vista causing this I am never buying Vista. XP baby. |

| Can you get to the printer through a browser window by typing in the ip address?

| http://1.2.3.4/ Usually it'll be something like 192.168.1.200 (often in the 200-210 range) (of course on your local subnet, which may be one of many things, but most often 192.168.something (0 or 1 most common). |

| Woah, woah, woah. He said he can't even print to it via USB... establishing networking probably won't do too much in this case. Sounds like a case of the magic smoke being let out... Try it from a different computer with USB. Anything you can get your hands on - a Mac, a Windows 2000 machine... anything but Vista. I'm sure someone in your congregation has a laptop they'd be willing to let you use for a few seconds to test it out. Just don't use a Vista machine - if as you suspect the problem is Vista-related, testing with a Vista machine won't help at all! If you simply can't get printing working via USB, you have one of two possibilities: 1. The printer's networking is misconfigured and its USB port is disabled/broken. 2. The printer has a failure and will need servicing to reinstall the magic smoke. |

| ok, when I type in the address 192.168.11.2 it says that it is down. Which it did that all day yesterday. I went onto the Ricoh website and the drivers they have on there for the printer were released in January. I have not put any updated ones in since the installation of the printer in April of 07. I think I am going to download the drivers and try to install them. If this sound like a good idear let me know. The printer place where we bought the printer said to wait till they call back. I don't think I am. Oh, there is also this thing called smart device monitor for client that I guess monitors the printers. I don't think that has to do with anything. And YES I can print via USB. Thanks for all your help guys. ![]() |
