Office 2007 Nonprofit Pricing...

Hey We are looking into possibly upgrading to Office 2007 and also purchasing a new Windows PC for our minister. My question is where do you purchase your copies of Microsoft software if you qualify as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit? I have heard of the http://www.techsoup.org website, but does your church qualify and if so how? If your church does not qualify, then what is the next best alternative price wise place to look into?

Thanks,

Chris H.

We got ours from 1computerbargians.com (looks like they are changing their name).

They have instructions on the site to tell how to qualify.

Fortunately, I had the URL right, anyway.

Does 1computerbargains.com limit the number of times you can purchase software over the course of a year? I know the techsoup site appears to limit the amount of software and the number of times within a period of time that you can order through them.

That was not our experience. There was a need to purchase at least 5 licenses for the first purchase. But after that, I thought you could buy what you want. But we never tested it.

We bought our computer through Dell and did Nonprofit office 2007 through them. The only limitation most companies have is that you need to buy at least 5 licenses to start along with purchasing the media (CD). But, 5 copies nonprofit is cheaper than 1 copy of the corporate version and you have legal copies for 5 computers in your church.

Consistent Computer Bargains is where we got ours also. There was an option to not purchase 5 licenses if we wished we could have gotten "blanks" for about 5 or 10 bucks each I believe. And if we want to add more licenses we can for 2 or 3 years I think. They are really nice to deal with and it was not complicated to qualify for nonprofit. is the email of the person I personally talked to there.

All you have to do is find an MS E-Open distributor that'll help you get set up. We got started with Provantage.com. We purchase all of our licenses through them.

CDW Is a very big dealer in handling that sort of thing. They are who we use and we are a state convention with licensing for 150 plus when you buy Office for that many it is alot better than paying $569.00 per seat especially when they knock $500.00 right off the top.

Best,

Rob
