| its not the processing so much as it is the hard drive throughput...video eats hard drives for breakfast...recording in avi format (recommended) can literally eat your drive with an hour or so's sermon.
put that on top of trying to do video and still playback, lyric projection, etc...
its really about not having any stutters or distractions during the service. It might work without any distractions et al for about 80% of the time...but that means that around 20% of the time, someone would notice something. Not good enough for our standards...
a stand alone dvd recorder is a fine idea, and an inexpensive way to go...or, maybe a cam corder that allows you to take video inputs and record to mini dv tape as well-if possible, I'd do both. Dvd recorders will glitch occasionally, bad media, power surge, etc...
having the dv camcorder as a backup (or even a vcr) could be a great idea when that happens, if the videos are mission critical. |
