We used to use board tape, however, other departments see the roll on the console and decide that they can borrow it for their purposes as well. I remember one time when I was ready to pull my hair out when our youth used up our only 3 rolls of our expensive board tape to hang their construction paper cutouts around the church!

So now we kind of go back and forth between masking tape to electrical tape to the white stick-on envelope labels in a straight line. Every so-often I'll peel the tape back down to the metal, however, most times we just cover what we have with a brand new strip of tape. The old tape underneath does not hurt anything but I've peeled it off when I started using white electrical tape so that it would adhere better.

A product that doesn't seem to be available in Canada, that means by the time I pay shipping, brokerage, taxes I'm looking at a $40 roll of tape. That's not going to work. I will keep looking though....

It pretty much is Arlin, just a little less sticky. Also try artist tape or paper tape.

While white gaff tape or label/artist's tape is generally used by the pros at gigs (because it comes back off without leaving residue), for a church setup and a mixer with a metal frame, you may consider P-touch labels on refrigerator magnet strips. These materials are generally available in any office supply store, and allow you to create labels for the things you use most: the pastor's lav, pulpit gooseneck, drum mics, worship-team handhelds, instruments, etc etc. This allows for a reconfigurable setup based on the equipment you have and the people on the worship team who regularly use various components. If the lineup of the worship team changes, you can print out a new label. If this happens regularly (through rotation or attrition), consider using more generic labels like "Vox L", or "Guitarist Vox", so it doesn't matter who's the guitarist, or the house-left vocalist, on a particular week. Lastly, the labels generally tolerate wet-erase and even dry-erase marker, so you can print out a blank laminated label and write on it with a Vis-a-Vis.
