Create your own hand written font

This looks amazing.

http://pilothandwriting.com/en/

Wish I had time to play with it.

I couldn't wait and I had some spare time so I tried it.

Really easy to use. You download and print out a template that you need to enter in your handwriting a character at a time. Black ink is best and make sure that you fill up the square as directed otherwise the interpretation gets muddied.

For some reason I couldn't get my built-in iSight on Mac to connect to the application but it offers you the choice of using a scanner or your camera. I used my iPhone to snap the picture. Once it's uploaded you are given the option to modify each letter. Once you like it you can save the template and start using it.

The first time I tried it I didn't have the characters filled in as much as the template directions wanted so there was extra spacing between the characters. Once I corrected it the quality of the printing is actually quite good.

Bah! Biggest downside is that you can't do anything with it unless you want to view it on Pilot's web page in Flash. You can't save it and all it lets you do is email it. I was hoping that the email would contain a jpeg or something that could be saved to your computer but you can't.

Other than a neat marketing idea for Pilot pens or sending an email in your handwriting I can't see much use for it now.

That is disappointing. I didn't pay much attention, but I had hoped you'd be downloading a ttf. 8-/

I used
http://www.yourfonts.com/ when it was free and loved it. I lost the font when I changed hard drives and then discovered they charge now so I tried pilot handwriting. Didn't find out until I went through the whole process that you can't download your font. Pretty frustration.

Looks like Pilot used either the engine or the idea behind yourfonts.com. For $9.95 plus $5.00 if you upload both of the templates at yourfonts.com it's worth it. yourfonts allows you to download the font after it's created into your fonts folder just like any other font. Works just as good too. I'll post a sample after I put it through its paces.

Yeah, it's definitely one of the best $10 I've spent in ministry. I use it all the time when I send out postcards. A lot of people actually think they are handwritten!
