I'm sure that's a vary vague questions, so I'll give more information if needed.

I was thinking two dual 18" units powered by two QSC RMX2450s. We have two dual 12"s from Community in our student worship center. They're older units but sound pretty decent. Would their dual 18" units work well?

Our main worship center has about 10 - 12" Renkus-Heinz speakers with 3 delay lines. We are upgrading our church's Main Loudspeakers. Been doing a load of reading here and in other forums. Now needing some specific advice/direction. Sorry if I included to much info, but after reading so many threads, this is what seems to be needed to come to a conclusion.


Present install:
  • FOH: 2 Peavey TLS (15") - Power: Peavey Pro 500 - Left side @ 250w
  • Fills: 2 Nade MC 8 (8") - Power: Peavey Pro 500 - Right side @ 250w
  • Sub: JBL 18" (older - not sure of model, but about size of MRX528S - not shown in drawing) - Power: Samson 1000s: Left side @ 500w
  • FOH speakers are hung on the wall right and left.
  • Sub is center stage (not shown in drawing)
  • Fills are flown from the ceiling in corners
Here are my needs and what I have to work with:
  • Music style: Rock, Contemporary (Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Electrinic Drum, 5 singers)
  • Seating is for 150
  • $2,800 for FOH, Fills (if needed) and Sub
  • $1000 for Multi processor (DBX PA+ or 260 - type)
  • Have to stay with Peavey Pro 500 amp for now to power FOH and Fills (if needed) but would like to get a powered sub with matched amp
  • Do I want 12s or 15s in my FOH with an 18" sub? Would rather use 12s for the cost
  • Looking at both 18", 15" and 12/12" powered subs
  • Looking for the lows to be deep and rich - the kind that you really feel - but not "thumpy"
  • In this small a room, do we need the fills if the FOH is installed in the correct location? We presently only use them due to low rear ceiling.
Here is what I have come up with so far.
For the money, which of these boxes has the better components, sonic quality, etc? Trying to keep my FOH boxes priced around 400-700 each.
1. Yorkville Coliseum Series 12's (the 15s in this series do not have a rotatable horn)
2. Yorkville Elite Series 12s or 15s
3. Renkus-Heinz CFX series 12s or 15s
4. EAW VR series 12s or 15s
5. Grund Audio AC-12 or 15
6. Grund Audio GT-12 or GT-15 series
7. EV Tour X 15s (but at $750 this is the top of my "food chain" for pricing)
Mid room Fills:
- do I even need them?
- If yes, matched to the whatever choice of FOH in the 6" or 8" size
Powered Sub Options so far (mono 18"):
1. JBL PRX618SXLF - 1000w
2. QSC KSub - 1000w
3. Yorkville LS801P - 1500w

To save money, could go unpowered and use my Samson 1000s left side (500w) to power a single mono sub like the Grund Audio or other
So what do you think would best suit my Loudspeaker needs? I am Not locked into anything: size of main drivers, number of loudspeakers or brand. Any suggestions on selection and setup would be appriciated.

I don't think it's related to what's actually coming through the system, because sometimes just powering up the system will result in the crackling.

Speakers: JBL AM4212
Amp: Yamaha P7000S

I'll be placing a call to our A/V system consultant, but was looking for any ideas you all could offer regarding what it might be.
