I was just appointed to do the church books. We are using excel right now, just wondering what everyone else is using? We have about 40 to 50 people attending church on a Sunday service.

God Bless,

hello, I am new here and need some help. Not sure if this is the correct forum and if not then please advise me where to post.

I was baptized when I was young (almost 30 years ago) but strayed from the path and am seeking guidance. I am looking for somewhere online or a local church to fellowship. I live in middle Georgia by the way. I don't want this to come across the wrong way but I just had a very bad experience on another forum where they ended up calling me stupid, a papal stooge, and then finally an atheist because I wouldn't take their form of hearing the word which to me was very confrontational. I know my sins, I have confessed my sins, and don't really need the fire and brimstone preaching. All I really seek is a place or person where I can ask advice and get some specific verses that may answer my questions. I am in the process of reading the Bible again but it is a very big book and I don't know specific places to go to answer specific questions. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So when does the congregation first see the pastor (live, not recorded) during worship service in your church? And I'm not referring about the time the pastor spends greeting and talking to people in lobby before service starts.

Being a fairly new church body (Official launch was November 2009), we are still looking at the order of service and how transitions from different parts. Here is our basic current order:

Worship Leader welcome (very short and energetic)

Two uptempo songs typically intended for full congregation singing

Pastor welcome and announcements

One slow/moderate tempo song more praise team just singing but not always

Worship Leader morning prayer

Scripture Readings

Children's moments/sermon

Medium tempo song more gear to congregation singing but not always

Pastor prayer

Sermon/Message

Offering & Song

Benediction

We are contemplating recording the greeting and announcements to play on the screen while all the logistical transition is occuring with the praise team exiting and pastor getting set up for sermon/message.

So I guess a follow up question is what advice do you have on covering the transition when the praise team leaves and the pastor comes up?

It seems like a part of the church website that keeps track of the service for that coming sunday, and notifies every worship team member, pastor, sound system team, and anyone else that will have a part in the service anytime someone makes a change would be useful. any thing like that out there?

We are moving our church into a Metal building.

The ceiling is painted black. I am needing some ideas on lighting.

I have heard, seen where down on the wall a line where the wall is painted... and above it is black.

I am having a hard time finding what kind of lights would work.
