| There are no scripture references to the use of media (i.e. lighting, video, etc...), however, remember that there is a cultural aspect to take note of. The Word of God was delivered to His people at "various times and in different ways..." Paul was "everything to every man" to be able to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to anyone he had contact with in the best possible way. There is a place for media within the church body, but remember that it fails in comparison with the importance of the Word of God. The Gospel of Christ is the most important thing to get across and to get it across well. Any lighting, video, images, music, etc...should always point us to Christ and not distract or detract from Christ and the glory due His name. "Media" can help with getting the message to the body, but it is not the message. When all is said and done, God calls those to Himself through the preaching of the Word not the Media. Hope that helps... |

| What about the burning bush? Surely a creative use by God... He used the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-21) to get the attention of Moses... and then spoke to him through it! {Sometimes media can be used to get peoples attention, too} ![]()

And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? | I think the Bible has a lot to say about media and its use in ministry. They just had different mediums in Biblical times. Try looking up about the building (rebuilding?) of the Temple and all the detail contained in the Bible regarding the artisans who were hired (in some cases from other countries). The Bible talks about the wood workers and jewelers, etc. I find it fascinating that these artisans are named for all to read in the Bible throughout history. The Bible also extols their great skill and work. You can also do a word search for "Cedars of Lebanon" and you may find similar results.

| I didn't know that about the artisans. That is really cool. When you think about it all the different aspects of "media" involves more than just being knowledgable about your field. You have to have the GIFT. One can learn anything but its different to have a gift in something. When you have a gift, that gift belongs to GOD. So everytime you work and walk in that gift its so much more special than a person that just does it as a job or a hobby. That action and gift is BLESSED because it came from God for YOU. And I think that is more important. That the gift God has given any of us should be used to glorify Him. And not to propell and abuse for our own gain.

| OK, this is what I was able to come up with over my lunch break. I hope this is a blessing to all ... BIBLE VERSES ABOUT SKILLED CRAFTSMEN AND THE ARK OF THE COVENANT Exd 26:1 "Make the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim worked into them by a skilled craftsman. Exd 26:36 "For the entrance to the tent make a curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen--the work of an embroiderer. Exd 27:16 "For the entrance to the courtyard, provide a curtain twenty cubits [fn] long, of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen--the work of an embroiderer--with four posts and four bases. BIBLE VERSES ABOUT SKILLED CRAFTSMEN AND AARONS PRIESTLY GARMENTS Exd 28:3 Tell all the skilled men to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest. Exd 28:4 These are the garments they are to make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a woven tunic, a turban and a sash. They are to make these sacred garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so they may serve me as priests. Exd 28:5 Have them use gold, and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine linen. Exd 28:6 "Make the ephod of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen--the work of a skilled craftsman. Exd 28:7 It is to have two shoulder pieces attached to two of its corners, so it can be fastened. Exd 28:8 Its skillfully woven waistband is to be like it--of one piece with the ephod and made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and with finely twisted linen. Exd 28:13 Make gold filigree settings Exd 28:14 and two braided chains of pure gold, like a rope, and attach the chains to the settings. Exd 28:15 "Fashion a breastpiece for making decisions--the work of a skilled craftsman. Make it like the ephod: of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen. Exd 28:16 It is to be square--a span [fn] long and a span wide--and folded double. Exd 28:17 Then mount four rows of precious stones on it. In the first row there shall be a ruby, a topaz and a beryl; Exd 28:18 in the second row a turquoise, a sapphire [fn] and an emerald; Exd 28:19 in the third row a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst; Exd 28:20 in the fourth row a chrysolite, an onyx and a jasper. [fn] Mount them in gold filigree settings. Exd 29:5 Take the garments and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him by its skillfully woven waistband. BIBLE VERSES ABOUT GOD SPECIFYING CERTAIN SKILLED CRAFTSMEN Exd 31:1 Then the LORD said to Moses, Exd 31:2 "See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, Exd 31:3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-- Exd 31:4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, Exd 31:5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship. Exd 31:6 Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you:Exd 31:7 the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the Testimony with the atonement cover on it, and all the other furnishings of the tent-- Exd 31:8 the table and its articles, the pure gold lampstand and all its accessories, the altar of incense, Exd 31:9 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, the basin with its stand-- Exd 31:10 and also the woven garments, both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests, Exd 31:11 and the anointing oil and fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them just as I commanded you." Exd 35:30 Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, Exd 35:31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-- Exd 35:32 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, Exd 35:33 to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic craftsmanship. Exd 35:34 And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. Exd 35:35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers--all of them master craftsmen and designers. BIBLE VERSES ABOUT SKILLED CRAFTSMEN AND THE TENT OF MEETING Exd 35:25 Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun--blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. Exd 35:26 And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair. BIBLE VERSES ABOUT GOD PROVIDING ABUNDANTLY FOR BEZALEL AND OHOLIAB Exd 36:1 So Bezalel, Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the LORD has given skill and ability to know how to carry out all the work of constructing the sanctuary are to do the work just as the LORD has commanded." Exd 36:2 Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the LORD had given ability and who was willing to come and do the work. Exd 36:3 They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to carry out the work of constructing the sanctuary. And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. Exd 36:4 So all the skilled craftsmen who were doing all the work on the sanctuary left their work Exd 36:5 and said to Moses, "The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the LORD commanded to be done." Exd 36:6 Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: "No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary." And so the people were restrained from bringing more, Exd 36:7 because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work. | I don't know about bible scripture specific to media, but what I do know is I am a volunteer in the Sound/video for my church. I love it, I have learned a great deal and I am helping the Pastor of the church. I have been greatly blessed by being able to help in this area and since my church has no live worship, the sound room here is the center of worship. We depend upon good quality technology that is C H E A P. HAHA. It's a lot of hard work, frustration at times and always a blessing. |
