| Career Fair Our church was the host site for a Career Fair on Saturday. The Career Fair was organized by six local churches to help the unemployed to get connected to companies that were looking for qualified people to hire. Nearly 500 people register looking for jobs. We had 40 companies there that were hiring, everything from Starbucks to the FBI. We also put on workshops to help teach how to look for jobs, resume writing, dressing for success, resume reviews, how to be interviewed, etc…
God once again blessed us. I had 3 different sound systems operating throughout the day. Along with having 3 workshop rooms needing AV support. We also had setup a WiFi system for the employers so they could be connected to the internet to help them process the applications. There were no major glitches throughout the day. And any problems that did come up we were ready for.
It was great to work with the other churches. This was one of the few times that we all worked together on a single project like this. There were lots of opportunities for egos to get in the way, but God blessed us all and everything went well.
We had a bus pick up 15 homeless shelter individuals, took them to a thrift store to buy suits and had them at the Career Fair. I know of one of them that got a job that day. The people who did the organization of this were truly wonderful, God centered people, wanting to reach out and help the community. Praise God for their work!
