Frustrated with EW 2007

I had the worst time updating from 2006. The computer kept running out of disk space when EW was transferring videos. Now, PowerPoint 2002 won't work (the presentations show up on the schedule, and in the preview pane, but not on screen when I go live.

also, when I click on to see the videos, it is empty, when the file has videos in it.

And, of course, live support is closed on Saturdays (doesn't that seem a little strange for a church software company - what about emergencies like this?

Oh well, thank for letting me vent a little - spent 2-3 hours on this on the 4th!

Any answers??

As far as PowerPoint... are yiou using the viewer instead of the actual Powerpoint program? In the options tab check the boxes that make it use Powerpoint instead of the viewer. That will solve your prob there cuz the viewer will sometimes, if not always, be the cause of headaches.

Running out of disk space isn't EW fault. I'm not sure how you might be able to remedy this beyond cleaning up files that aren't in use.

As far as the videos being 'empty'... there is also a checkbox in the options somewhere that has to do with DirectX. That needs to be checked and the latest DirectX installed. You may end up needing another codec if you're not getting vid files to work. Do you have Windows Media Player? Try VLC player if not...

Hope this helps some!

actually, I found some of the problem. When EW2007 was upgrading - all the files went to a completely different file - in documents and settings (why, I don't know). That was why the disk space was taken up - duplicate files. That is also why the videos didn't show up - because they were not in the right place. RE: powerpoint - I did check the right box to use regular ppt. and not ppt. viewer, so I'm not sure what that was - I ended up unistalling office completely and just using the viewer for Sunday. we'll see what happens next week!

Thanks for your reply!

they moved the files because of vista-it doesn't let programs access the program files directory, so they had to move the database and graphics/video files in order to work across platforms.

Thanks - However, the computer I'm using doesn't have vista. It worked OK today using the ppt. viewer, except the remote was very slow in changing the slides - may be something completely unrelated.

Do you know will the older versions of powerpoint work with EW2007 if I reinstall 2002?

Yes, EasyWorship will work with the older version of PowerPoint but I would give support a call on Monday and let them help you.

As far as not being able to reach us on Saturday, I am sorry.

We have considered offering paid emergency support on the weekend, any thoughts?

That might be a good idea - I think I might have used it! BTW - EW has been very helpful when I had questions/problems. The reason we got EW is because the novice can learn it fast and use it, so customer support is a must! Thanks
