Hesitation when playing clips from DVD

aHas anyone had this problem before? When I edit a clip from a DVD and play it back, there is sometimes a spot where the video hesitates for a split second, then goes on. It happens with different DVD's and the DVD plays perfectly on other players (including another computer). Any ideas?

first check the codec you are using.
Play the clip, and click on help, video codec troubleshooting.
What appears in that window?

See if the hesitation coincides with you moving the mouse around.

Do you have problems playing any or most DVD's? Do you only have problems with one or just a couple of DVD formats (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R or DVD+RW)?

A week ago I had Dell fix my laptop (under warranty) which was having a problem playing most CD's and DVD's I would put in it. It would stutter. The first thing they tried was to update the driver software. When that didn't help they replaced the DVD drive. That fixed it.

It could be a slow processor or lack of RAM. Do you just have EW running or other programs running also. Is there a powerpoint file in your schedule?

I had problems with EW playing clips from the DVD until I upgraded my system, Dual-core w/3 gig of RAM. It took the stuttering out of my DVD clips.
