Bash Easy Worship and mpeg videos...

Hopefully this hasn't already been discussed, I tried searching for this topic...

Anyway, every time we try and play an mpeg video that I've rendered...Easy Worship just can't handle it. It stutters, the audio breaks up and/or skips. If I render the same file as an AVI, it plays fine.

I can't keep taking 30 second clips and re-rendering them as an AVI file, they end up being over a gig apiece!

Has anyone seen this? I'm not at the church at the moment, but I think we might be on the latest version of Easy Worship...

You might try looking at this thread on the EW forum:

Codecs

I use mpeg videos every weekend with zero issues.

What I've had happen

frequently, is that the codecs on my home machine run much more smoothly than do the ones on the worship pc, because I spend much more time on my home machine, and have tweaked it to make it work well with what I play back.

I agree, you want to make sure you have all the right codecs

mpeg2 videos (SVCD) have never been very succesful, but I usually render everything as mpeg1 (VCD) which may only be 320x240 but runs perfectly under Easyworship, and has the added advantage of being able to run of virtually any PC or Mac without additional codecs AND also has the ability to be burned to a CD/DVD and played on most DVD players (which all seem to be VCD compatible) - always have a backup, I say!

I have changed to render in wmv and have smaller files and they seem to run better at full resolution. This also works for my video looping backgrounds.

This is going to sound wierd and it may not be related to the actual operation but it seems to work for us. We noticed that sometimes files with the *.mpeg designation ran erratically. Believe it or not renaming it to *.mpg designation fixed the problem. I'm not sure why. It could be codec but we've tried to keep those updated on our worship computers. But try it and see.

Looping

Instead of starting another thread, does anyone know how to loop a video in Easy Worship?

Yes, it is simple with the right ingredients. First you will need a video that is loopable. I.E. the end is one frame from the beginning and there is not a jump when the video loops back to the beginning. That is all, Easy Worship will handle the loop if you have the codecs.

I like the WMV format as I can render quickly and have a relatively small file size.

Make your own loopable video. This is also simple with the right tools. Cut your video in the middle, move the beginning segment to the end, and put a dissolve transition between the two splices and render.

If there is not too much difference in the camera angle the audience will not notice that in the middle of your segment there is a transition. USE A TRIPOD!

If you want to loop a video, just click the icon at the top of the window area (where you are playing the video--preview or live). Background videos should automatically loop, but regular videos in your schedule will not due to the default settings in EasyWorship. When you click "Go Live" with the video from your schedule, click the loop icon that looks like an arrow making a complete circle.

Hope this helps.

Joe
